ONE FALSE MOVE, AND THEN ANOTHER AND ANOTHER…….
Has anyone seen the movie “One False Move” where small town sheriff played by Bill Paxton tries to help the big town and big time Los Angeles detectives catch stone cold killers who have come to his “small town” . The sheriff sees the case has his ticket to big time police work and a spot on the LAPD……. The detectives are seen laughing behind his back at this notion…… He is and always will the small town, dufus, Mayberry sheriff……..
Enter stage left, small town and real life sheriff, Osnlow County sheriff Ed Brown. Sheriff Brown and Osnlow County have suddenly been thrust into the spot light in a very very big time case…… An grusemome, sensational big time case….. A case that has plethora of state and federal alphabet abbreviation agencies involved…. I am speaking of the murder of Marine Lance Cpl Maria Lauterbach and her unborn fetus of 8 months. Her burned remains along with the burned remains of her unborn child were found buried in the back yard of Marine Cpl Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean. Cpl Laurean is on the run and a warrant issue has been issued for his arrest. Lance Cpl Lauterbach had accused Cpl Laurean of rape and was scheduled to testify against him.
This case is only just unfolding but already the powers that be are using it to trampoline careers or should I say the “power that be” because my poisened spike of criticsim is directed soley at Osnlow County Sheirff Ed Brown.
Sheriff Brown has had no shame in doing everything he can to make himself part of the story instead of focusing on gathering evidence and letting the story be told in court. This guy has had mulitple news conferences of no investigative value, he has been on Geraldo, he has editorialized the evidence in a public forum, he as commented on the evidence, he has done everything but keep his mouth shut and do his job.
Sheriff Brown must have gone to the Mike Nifong school of Investigative Publicity.
It’s Time either the Feds or the Osnlow County D.A. to tell sheriff Brown to shut his trap and update his resume after the case is concluded before he says something that damages their ability to obtain a convicton when the guilty party is brought to trial….
Is there a difference between Sheriff Brown and the sheriff in One False Move? Yes there is, in the movie they didnt have CNN, Nancy Grace or Geraldo…..
